Great digital stories are personal, include universal story elements and involve collaboration at a variety of levels. They allow students to exercise creativity, self-direction and experiment with new technologies.
Your research can take many forms and can include, but is not limited to, collecting materials, conducting interviews, audio and footage.
It’s up to you what you want to include and how you want it to look.

Good stories start with a good script, but they don’t end there. How can we transform our stories, not just substitute analog stories. What elements would bring them to life? SAMR model link: aim is to redefine how we tell our stories.
Using their storyboard as a guide, students will gather – or create – images, audio and video. Everything they choose will impact and set the tone for their digital story. Introduce concepts such as visual hierarchy, tone, and illustration when giving the students live feedback. This is also a great time to talk about Copyright, Fair Use, and Creative Commons. Students should use this time to record themselves reading their scripts and rewrite changes as they record.
How can we collaborate with others and contribute our expertise? Ensuring collaboration is authentic in this process is important.
Brainstorm ideas for sharing beyond the classroom. Knowing that other people might see their work often raises student motivation to make it the best possible work that they can do.

Thank you Mike! I really found the 4 week course on ‘How to Motivate, Manage & Engage Your Students’ really interesting and great food for thought on how to improve my class routines and student engagement.

Mike, awesome course, fantastic resources and a real wake-up for someone who considers himself technically astute but not necessarily updated!

I have been teaching for four years, and this was the best Professional Development course I have completed…even the students said
to me “you should do these things more often.
