aka Digitech Master & STEAM Craftsman
A STEAM aficionado and master of all things digitech, I cover everything from simple setups that utilise everyday materials, to creating specialised makerspaces that incorporate cutting edge technology like robotics and CNC machines.
I’m a bit of a geek at heart. I love to tinker with technology and enjoy sharing my experience with others. I believe that time is the greatest gift technology can give us, and as an experienced teacher I know how precious time is. Hearing “this is going to save us soooo much time” is sweet music to my ears.
I have a hands-on approach to developing tech tools with the firm belief the best way to learn is by doing.
I began my career as a cabinet maker and joiner before being seduced by the power of tech tools. With qualifications in industrial product design and cabinetry, and in education as a specialist technology teacher, I joined UTB in early 2020 with a unique skill kit.
I like sinking my teeth into a good design problem – physical or digital – and thoroughly enjoy collaborating with the UTB team and the amazing teachers I’m privileged to empower on their journey.
I love the great outdoors. I get out whenever I can either tramping or riding my adventure cross bike. I love finding innovative ways to incorporate New Zealand’s stunning natural environment and sustainability into teaching programmes through the local curriculum.
I live in the middle of New Zealand’s “Fruit Bowl of the South” right under Alexandra’s Clock On The Hill with my wife, Hannah, two daughters, Bea and Frankie, and our cat, Sadie.
