Who Is This For?

Minecraft Workshop Series Outline

Week 1:
Placing Your First Blocks

Monday 29 November, 7:30 am NZDT

You will gain a hands-on experience with Minecraft. Participants learn how to use Minecraft worlds, controls, and settings to create an optimal setting for teaching students.    

  • Learn to launch and log in, understand the settings  

  • Play the game: move around, place and destroy blocks  

  • Complete individual build challenge 

Week 2:
Collaborative Gameplay

Thuesday 30 November, 7:30 am NZDT

You will experience co-play and better understand what students experience when they’re playing together in a Minecraft world. Additionally, educators will learn about how students can connect to begin their co-play experience.   

  • Understand how multi-player connection works technically 

  • Plan and perform group build battle task   

  • Present the result of group build battle task 

Week 3:
Managing Minecraft (Beginner)

Monday 6 December, 7:30 am NZDT

You will learn about classroom mode, specifically, you will learn about world management, turning off and on world settings such as Mobs, Perfect Weather, Day/Night cycle, etc.  

  • Download, Import, and Export Worlds  

  • Save Worlds 

  • Use in-game functionality, commands and the Classroom Mode companion application

To participate, you will need access to the following:

– Windows 10, macOS, iPad or Chromebook device
– Office 365 Education valid login to access Minecraft 
– Downloaded Minecraft: Education Edition from https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download
– A mouse is also a very handy addition for easier navigation in game play
– Install and connect Classroom Mode, guide here
