How to Use G Suite Tools to Effectively Teach Maths

This stimulating course has been developed by Donna Golightly and will show you what Donna was doing to engage students in maths learning. In this practical, hands on day, you will experience a range of easy to use tools including G Suite as well as a range of STEAM tools.

This day will also incorporate the SKILLS and MINDSET needed for encouraging student agency and differentiation.

  • Understand the fundamentals of G Suite in the classroom
  • Integrate digital tools purposefully into a maths programme
  • Explore the elaborations inside nzmaths to fine tune planning
  • Access ready made templates to enhance student agency & differentiate learning
  • Use STEAM tools through opportunities for hands on exploration

Your presenter - Donna Golightly

Donna has more than twenty years experience in the education sector and is passionate about helping others find innovative ways to teach, learn, research and work together. Donna is a highly experienced educator and technology trainer who can be relied on to deliver sessions that are energetic, inspiring and build real skills. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice (Digital and Collaborative) and is a Google for Education Level 1 and 2 Certified Educator.

Do I need prior experience with Google tools? No. During this course you will receive a thorough understanding of how you can integrate G Suite into your maths lessons. If you have started using some of these tools, we will show you how to extend the use of the tools you have. 

Is the content related to Primary or Secondary aged students? Both! Donna is Primary trained, so her expertise lie in this area, however, the principals taught in this training are easily transferrable to all levels of schooling.

Is lunch provided? Morning tea and lunch are provided. After you register we will ask you about any dietary requirements.  

Do I need to bring a device? You bet! Please bring a charged PC or Macbook with you. If you have an iPad you may also want to bring it with you. 

What will happen after I register? After you register we will email you all the information you need for the day, including an invoice or receipt and information on letting us know about any dietary requirements.
